Shelby City Council and administration have again funded a facade improvement program for businesses in the Central Business District for 2024. This program allows building owners to offset some of their expenses on eligible facade and building improvements that add to the character of Downtown Shelby. This competitive program will begin accepting applications April 17, 2024, and will be open through May 10, 2024. All projects are subject to review by the facade improvement committee and subject to all building department rules and regulations. Additionally, historic buildings may require a certificate of appropriateness for their project. Questions are welcome prior to, and when applying and should be directed to Economic Development Manager Jessica Gribben, 419-342-4159. This is a reimbursement grant, and funds will be released to grantees after all invoices are paid on the project and once all approvals for the project have been acquired. Projects must be completed and paid out in the 2024 calendar year.
