6/5/18 9:45am TREE TRIMMING UPDATE

Oberlander's Tree Trimming Service continues to work in Ward 4 with an approximate completion date of 7 to 10 days.  After the completion of Ward 4 they will continue to move throughout our city until all trimming has been finished. 

COMMUNITY GARDENS ANNOUNCEMENT; UPDATE 6/11/18 7:45AM

The community garden plots are ready for our registered gardeners to plant. Please call the Utilities Office at (419) 342-4085, between 8:00am to 4:30pm, with any questions that you may have.

2017 CONSUMER CONFIDENCE WATER REPORT 


NOTICE:   The 2017 Consumer Confidence Water Report is now available to anyone wishing to review the report. We have announcements with a link to the city website available at the Library, City Hall and the Utility Office. A printed copy can be picked up at the Utility Office beginning on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. The report can also be accessed by clicking on the "2017 Consumer Confidence Report" verbiage on the left side of this page, or by entering the following web address into your computers web browser; http://shelbycity.oh.gov/ccr or by clicking on the link. Please note that you can print yourself a copy from the city website or the direct link. If you have any questions concerning the 2017 CCR you can call the Water Department between the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday thru Friday at (419) 342-2171


VERNON ROAD WATER TOWER MAINTENANCE 2018 UPDATE 6/12/18 4:30PM -

The maintenance work scheduled for 2018 is in the final stage, work should be completed in June. 

TORNADO SIRENS MONTHLY TEST SCHEDULE  2018 -

Tornado siren tests are scheduled to be conducted on the last Wednesday of the month at noon.

FENCES

No person shall construct or erect a fence or ornamental fence without first obtaining a permit form therefor from the city, which form, when filed, shall be accompanied by a diagram showing the location, size, style and type of proposed construction. No fence permit shall be approved without the applicant furnishing proof that property monuments are in place.  The city is hereby authorized to issue fence permits where the applicant is in full compliance with the provisions of this chapter. Accessory Structures


Accessory Structures in the City of Shelby include sheds and detached garages.  The structure shall be located in the rear yard and at least 5' off the rear and side property lines.  If the structure is over 200 square feet, you are required to obtain a buidling permit from the Richland County Building Department.  All contractors shall be registerd with the City of Shelby. Swimming Pools

Swimming Pools in the City of Shelby are governed by Chapter 1482.  

For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   (a)   “Permanent residential swimming pool.” An artificial body of water, permanently installed, used or intended to be used solely by the owner or lessee thereof and his or her family and by friends invited to use it without payment of any fee.
   (b)   “Pool.” An excavation, depression, construction, receptacle or container designed or constructed to hold or retain water, having a minimum size of 200 square feet and being over 24 inches deep at any point.

A zoning permit from the City of Shelby and a building permit from the Richland County Building Department will be required for a pool meeting the above definitions.

The pool shall be located behind the front building setback line and at least 5 feet off the side and rear lot lines.
